Cirith Gorgor 2.0: reborn, darker, stronger!

From the Past comes the Storm! Cirith Gorgor’s origin and roots go deep back into time, and can be traced back to the beginnings of the Dutch black metal scene. With their debut demo “Mystic Legends” Cirith Gorgor gets noticed, and soon legendary French label Osmose Productions makes a deal with these Dutch devil worshippers. Cirith Gorgor become the name in the quickly rising Dutch Black Metal scene. In those earlier years of Cirith Gorgor the band releases two classics, but by the beginning of the 21st century a conscious return to the underground starts to make them less visible.

During those years the Cirith Gorgor signature remains true to the black metal stamp of the highest quality, with several releases keeping the band alive and staying on their darkened path. Live shows are a part of keeping the black flame burning.

So far, so good... through all these years Hammerheart Records kept either in touch or kept listening to the releases Cirith Gorgor did. Then comes Spring 2015...

I'd say Havukruunu is the rightful holder of the Crown and the mantle of Quorthon. Epic choirs, vikingesque themes and tales from the other times, of the Finnish paganism back in the days before our ancestors were brought to the cross and forced to kneel while feeling the bloody sword of saviour on their throats made to kiss the hand of murderers who burnt thousands, tore down our holy places and took our holy days. Pretty much the best Black/Speed Metal I've listened to since I learned about Evil Invaders and Vulture. Everything you'd love to be reminded of about this musical era is there. The influences are what you'd expect too: Motörhead, Venom, Bathory, early Slayer, Celtic Frost; aggressive vocals, tortured guitar solos, pounding drums; everything is fast, clear and still a little grimy, but without reverb cranked up to the max.
